| Filipina gets $1mn in duty free raffle | | Posted Monday, January 29, 2007 3:16:47 PM by Blog57 Team | | Business Reporter THE first winner of the $1mn prize from Qatar Duty Free, a Filipina, collected her cheque from QDF yesterday. The winner, Otessa Carbonell Schiapparelli, lives on the island of Palawan, south west of Manila. Otessa, who has an 11-year-old daughter, was flown in by Qatar Airways from Manila for the prize distribution. The cheque was handed over by Qatar Duty Free deputy general manager Krishna Kumari. Qatar Duty Free, a subsidiary of Qatar Airways, launched the Millionaire raffle draw last summer. Otessa said she was ecstatic when she got the call from Kumari after the draw at Doha International Airport last month. “I couldn't believe it, I was in total shock, it was just amazing to receive such wonderful news and what an excellent Christmas present," she said.... | |

Five companies and Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee have signed a one-point-one (m) million dollar agreement to ease a global watchmaker shortage. The agreement reinforces the Swiss watch industry's commitment to the Watchmaking and Microtechnology program at O-S-U-Okmulgee. The agreement includes watchmaker Breitling, the Swatch Group and Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program. O-S-U-Okmulgee officials say the school's watchmaking educational program that dates back to 1946 when watchmaking was one of the original programs designed for World War Two veterans needing to re-enter the work force.
