| | | Home brew for your car | | Posted Tuesday, November 07, 2006 1:36:58 PM by Blog57 Team | | It couldn't quite be called a trend yet, but at least two local residents are combating global warming, Islamic terrorism and air pollution by powering their cars on homemade alternative fuels. Wood River High School biology teacher Larry Barnes mixes up biodiesel, which is an altered form of a vegetable oil and can be used in any vehicle that runs on diesel fuel. Josh Solly, the co-owner of a log home restoration business, uses straight vegetable oil, which only needs to be filtered before being poured into the tank, but has required some modification to his vehicle. In both cases, the home entrepreneurs' raw material is used fryer oil from restaurants. It would otherwise be thrown away. The biodiesel route: Barnes produces the fuel for his 2004 Volkswagen Jetta wagon in his garage.... | |

| | | Cell-phone caller ID is close at hand | | Posted Monday, October 30, 2006 7:31:02 PM by Blog57 Team | | It's a moment that many of us have experienced: The cell phone, deep in your pocket or stuffed in an out-of-reach briefcase, starts to ring as you're driving down the road. It could just be a friend, calling to gossip. Or it might be someone at the office, warning you that the meeting you're headed to has been canceled. If only there were a way of knowing who was calling without having to reach for the phone. Wristwatch maker Fossil Inc. has come up with a way, using wireless Bluetooth technology. A small screen on the face of two new Bluetooth watches for men -- which are priced at $200 and $250 -- displays the name of your caller (if it's someone in your phone's contact list) or the phone number. Tap a button and you can send the call straight to voice mail.... | |

| | | Fossil, Sony Link Watches, Cell Phones | | Posted Thursday, October 19, 2006 7:20:16 PM by Blog57 Team | | RICHARDSON, TEXAS - How's this for discretion? Next time someone rings your cell phone, just glance at your watch to see if it's worth picking up. No more digging the phone out of your pocket or purse and possibly send a message to those around you that they're not as important. In a partnership with Sony Ericsson, Fossil Inc. is introducing a line of watches that will show you who is calling. The system uses the Bluetooth wireless standard to beam a phone's caller ID information to the watch. The watch vibrates to alert users to an incoming call, and a quick press of a button can send the call to voicemail. You can't answer a call with the watch, but it will be compatible with Bluetooth headsets. The watches will be available by the end of October under Fossil's "Mobile Wear by Abacus" brand, the regular Fossil brand and the Sony Ericsson brand.... | |

| | | The Deception of Evolution | | Posted Monday, October 16, 2006 11:15:18 AM by Blog57 Team | | Darwinism, in other words the theory of evolution, was put forward with the aim of denying the fact of creation, but is in truth nothing but failed, unscientific nonsense. This theory, which claims that life emerged by chance from inanimate matter, was invalidated by the scientific evidence of clear design in the universe and in living things. In this way, science confirmed the fact that Allah created the universe and the living things in it. The propaganda carried out today in order to keep the theory of evolution alive is based solely on the distortion of the scientific facts, biased interpretation, and lies and falsehoods disguised as science. Yet this propaganda cannot conceal the truth. The fact that the theory of evolution is the greatest deception in the history of science has been expressed more and more in the scientific world over the last 20-30 years.... | |

| | | Fossil Preparing Caller ID Watch | | Posted Sunday, October 08, 2006 11:21:21 PM by Blog57 Team | | "After experimenting with PDA watches and MSN watches, Fossil says they've learned their lesson: what consumers want from a "smart watch" is an easy way to see information at a glance. Fossil's new Abacus MobileWear is a handsome, water resistant analog men's watch with a tiny 96-by-16-pixel OLED screen near the bottom of the face. It pairs up with a Sony Ericsson Bluetooth phone so that when you get a phone call, the caller ID information appears on the watch. If you don't like what you see, you can silence your phone's ringer by pressing a button on the watch. That's about it. The MobileWear watch is the answer to one of the major problems with cell phonesthose stressed-out moments when you leave your phone in your bag and can't get to it while it's ringing. At least with this watch, you'll know if you want to dump your entire bag out looking for the thing."There are two things this watch lacks and it's a microphone and speaker.... | |
